Where are Gretchen bags made?

All Gretchen bags are designed in our Berlin studio and handmade in limited numbers by small, family-run European workshops specialising in traditional bag-making – instead of mass production.

What leather does Gretchen use?

We use carefully selected, high-quality calf leathers from tanneries in Italy, France and Spain. Short transport routes and high environmental and social standards throughout production are important to us.

How much is shipping and how long does delivery take?

Shipping is free within Germany, the European Union and to Switzerland. Orders within Germany usually arrive within 1–2 working days, within the EU and Switzerland within 1–3 working days. We deliver to more than 170 countries – see Shipping information for all details.

Can I return my order?

Yes – Gretchen offers an extended right of return of 30 days.

Which payment methods can I use?

You can pay conveniently by PayPal, credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), SOFORT bank transfer, direct debit or prepayment. See Secure payment for more information.

Can I collect my online order in a store?

Yes. In the "delivery details" checkout step, simply choose delivery to a Gretchen store in Berlin or Düsseldorf. Shipping to the store is free, and you will receive an email as soon as your order is ready for collection.

How do I care for my leather bag?

Gently wipe off light marks with a slightly damp cotton cloth. Store your bag stuffed with tissue paper in the dust bag provided, in a dark and dry place, and avoid stacking bags on top of each other.

Is Gretchen a good gift?
